Innovationskunst from the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region: operational quantum technology
Research into quantum computers is highly complex. It is worth having a use case for research work of this kind. And this is precisely where business and science in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region work together perfectly: DATEV eG provides application examples and problems, while Fraunhofer IIS provides quantum science expertise and solutions.
Few technologies promise such a huge leap in development as quantum technology. At the same time, few technologies are as complex and multi-layered. For this reason, it is essential to pool competences, know-how and strengths in order to make this promising future technology efficiently applicable. In order to derive real benefit from quantum computers (QC), it is also necessary to develop the appropriate tools and services. The collaboration between the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits and DATEV eG within the QuaST project is based precisely on this idea.
With its expertise in the fields of hardware and algorithms, Fraunhofer IIS is an important supplier of the know-how that is relevant for the development and practical implementation of quantum technologies. The goal is a usable quantum computer or at least a usable quantum algorithm. DATEV defines specific business-related fields of work, develops use cases and helps to design an application-relevant quantum computing ecosystem.
Podcast series on quantum technology
Doch wofür genau, wie und wann kann man die angesprochenen Technologien nutzen? Welche Herausforderungen gibt es noch zu bewältigen?
But what exactly can the technologies mentioned be used for, how and when? What challenges still need to be overcome?
Fraunhofer IIS addresses these questions and many more in the podcast series: Collaboration at quantum level: How Fraunhofer IIS is working with DATEV eG to utilise quantum technologies (only available in German).

The project QuaST
In order to derive real benefit from quantum computers (QC), it is also necessary to develop the appropriate tools and services that are not only tailored to the problem but can also be processed using QC. In the QuaST (Quantum-enabling Services and Tools for Industrial Applications) research project, researchers at Fraunhofer IIS are developing the necessary software and services to enable and facilitate the use of current and future quantum computers for academic and industrial users.
