New Siemens Location in Veitsbronn: 340 Employees Start Production
The Nuremberg metropolitan region is gaining a new innovation hub: Starting in October 2024, around 340 employees of Siemens Large Power Drives will be working in three state-of-the-art halls on Reitweg in Veitsbronn. Here, products for digitalization and automation will be produced, serving key industries such as the process and automotive sectors. Siemens is further investing in the region, following the announcement in 2023 of a comprehensive redevelopment of the Erlangen site.
This move also includes the relocation of the production unit to Veitsbronn. Veitsbronn is a temporary solution for several years until the new technology campus in Erlangen is completed and production can be transferred there. Nevertheless, the municipality in the Fürth district has already benefited from the settlement of Siemens Large Power Drives: The modernized halls, equipped with sustainable technologies such as photovoltaic systems and heat pumps, offer ideal production conditions. The use of a digital twin in factory planning ensures optimal design of work processes even before the physical relocation.
Veitsbronn’s mayor, Marco Kistner, expressed his satisfaction: “We warmly welcome Siemens and are pleased that this large hall space is now being put to a forward-looking use.” Lars Hofmann, the plant manager of the new Siemens production site, also praised the close cooperation with the municipality: “The Veitsbronn site offers us a variety of opportunities to optimally organize our processes and efficiently manufacture our products.”
By utilizing the digital twin, Siemens is once again relying on cutting-edge technology to perfectly set up production in Veitsbronn, further strengthening the region.
